Splish, Splash, I Was Takin a Bath!!!

I love bath time!

It is my favorite part of the day. I can be pretty cranky at night, but as soon as my mommy and daddy start getting my bath ready I calm right down.


Daddy likes to make me laugh before I get in the tub by tickling my feet with his goatee.

The water is always nice and warm and relaxes me right away.

At the end of every bath my mom pours clean water over my head. She says it is so I will like swimming someday. She doesn't really know what she is talking about, she is just taking a guess. I don't mind it at all. I am getting really good at not swallowing water. I never, ever cry when she does it.Bath time is over and I get a nice massage with my lotion. Sometime my skin stays a little sticky and it is hard for my mom to put my PJs on. Getting dressed is the only part I don't like about bath time!!! If it were up to me I would just stay in my diaper.
I'm all ready for bed now. I get to wear 6 month PJ's even though I'm not even 4 months old yet. I am one lucky guy.

The Next Martha Stewart

Here is my attempt at being Martha Stewart. I took a picture of the one with my favorite face and didn't notice that it had an exploding diaper.

My friend had a baby shower and I was in charge of bringing a dessert. If you really know me then you know I am terrible at making cookies. So I always have to be a little creative to think of something else to bring. This time I decided to bring rice crispy treats. I made them into little baby girls if you couldn't tell. Although everyone said they were cute I went home with most of them still on the tray. It is a good thing people at Tom's work will eat anything. (They tasted great, I guess it is just not something a grown woman wants to admit that she eats.) I know I have a long way to go before I am considered "Miss Suzy Home Maker" but it was fun.

Visit Home

Last weekend Benjamin and I took a trip to visit my parents. It is always so fun to see Benjamin with his grandparents. We were so lucky to hit the perfect weekend.

We got to meet Baby Sullivan (Benjamin's cousin) in the Hospital. He is a really beautiful baby. The pictures don't do him justice.

The next day was Leah's 1st birthday, so we got to spend Saturday with the cousins, grandparents, great grandparent, and first cousins once removed (I think that is what the connection is, I could be wrong though.)

We finished off the weekend having Sunday dinner at my parents' house. Which means another fun day with cousins. And another photo shoot :0)

Baby Boot Camp

Thanks to everyone that gave me advice about how to get Benjamin to sleep through the night. (I have already read The Happiest Baby on the Block and Baby Wise which are both excellent books, they just didn't get Ben to sleep through the night on his own.)

We finally decided to just let him cry it out when he woke up in the middle of the night.

Some people call it CIO~ I think it stands for Cry It Out. Let me know if I am wrong.

We waited for the weekend so it wouldn't interfere too much with Tom's needed sleep for work. Here is how it went:

The first night he cried for an hour and fifteen minutes, from 12:45 to 2:00. (I'm not talking little whimpers here, he was screaming) I cried for forty-five minutes. I went in to check on him after about 15 min. but I broke down and picked him up. I decided that I wasn't strong enough and so Tom did all of the checking after that. He only woke up the one time, whereas before he was waking up at least two times a night if not three or four.

The next night he cried for an hour from 3:30 to 4:30. I didn't even attempt to check on him, I just made Tom do it. I was a big girl and didn't cry at all. Once again, he only woke up the one time.

LAST NIGHT HE DID IT!!!!!!!!!!! He slept through the whole night! I am so proud of him. He soothes himself by sucking on his arm or his sleeve; I wish he would take a pacifier but we will take whatever works. As you can see he doesn't stay swaddled anymore. He loves being swaddled when we put him down but he always seems to bust out of it now.

Way to go Benjamin!!!!

Ellwood Butterfly Grove

During the winter months thousands of Monarch Butterflies gather in this little ravine to rest during their migration. It was a short little hike that was so fun. I have never seen so many butterflies in my life!

I had no idea that they cluster together like this. If you didn't look close enough you would never even know they are there.

Benjamin loved being outside and looking up at the trees. He spent the whole hike craning his neck back so that he could see everything. (don't you just love those neck rolls)

You learn something new every day

I got this in an email today and thought I would share it. (Thanks Kim)

You know when you try to pull some foil out and the roll comes out of the box. Then you have to put the roll back in the box and start over. The darn roll always comes out at the wrong time.


Well, I would like to share this with you. Yesterday I went to throw out an empty Reynolds foil box and for some reason I turned it and looked at the end of the box. And written on the end it said, Press here to lock end. Right there on the end of the box is a tab to lock the roll in place. How long has this little locking tab been there? I then looked at a generic brand of aluminum foil and it had one, too. I then looked at a box of Saran wrap and it had one too! Unfortunately wax paper does not. I can't count the number of times the Saran wrap roll has jumped out when I was trying to cover something up. I'm sharing this with my friends. I hope I'm not the only person that didn't know about this.

So there you have it folks. I learned something new today and I hope you did too. Just thought I would share!

Rise and Shine

So we are still working on Benjamin sleeping through the night. He averages waking up between 1 and 4 times a night. No matter how many times he wakes up in the night, or how tired mom is in the morning, this is how I am greeted when I go to get him.

Somehow it makes the long night worth it!

I just love our little smiley man. That dimple will melt any heart.

However, I do wish he would sleep through the night.
