Sammy's Big Boo-boo
Last Sunday Sam burned two of his fingers on a crock-pot. I was carrying him in a carrier on my stomach while I was cooking. I was reaching for a knife and I did want him to grab the knife so I leaned the opposite way which happened to put him close enough to the crock-pot. The next thing I knew he was screaming and his fingers had already started to blister. I was so heart sick that I had hurt my little baby!!!! After running it under cool water for about 20 minutes he had calmed down. The blister ended up getting a little bigger than this before it popped while he was playing with a soft duck. He kept taking the band-aid off and tried to eat it. One time he started choking on it. We now keep a sock covering the band-aid at all times. It is healing really nicely and so is my heart.

Sammy is 6 months old!!!!
All right, so he is actually closer to 7 months than 6 months at this point. I'm a little behind, however, not as bad as some. You know who you are!!!!!!
I just love this sweet little man so much! He is just about as perfect as you can get! He is so sweet, calm, and quiet (unless he is tired, bored, or really happy)Sammy's stats:
Weight: 15.5 lbs 15-20% (this was over a month ago; we had to do his check up a little early- he is over 16 lbs now)
Height:26.5 50% (also a little taller than this)
Hair: Mostly bald but with a reddish tint
Teeth: None
Eyes: Brown
Things That Sam Can Do:
- Hiss like a snake
- Suck on his toes
- will only stay on his belly if he is watching TV (and he only lasts about 5 min before flipping over, he really hates his belly-without the TV it is only about 10 seconds)
- Gives hugs and kisses
- Doesn't sleep through the night (he is still in the bassinet in our room, although he has just about outgrown it)
- Sits by himself for about 15 seconds
- Loves to spit
- Flaps his arms like a penguin
- He loves it when you jump and clap
- Extremely ticklish on his ribs and inner thigh
- Does the saddest little face when he cries
- Always has a booger in his nose
- Likes to sleep with a blanket over his head (this one is a little scary. He has a really hard time falling asleep without it, so I usually give it to him and then take it away during the night.)
Some of his nicknames in order of occurrence:
Sam
Sam Sam
Sammy
Naked Baby (this one has a song as he comes into the bathroom for his bath each night)
Sam Sam the pumpkin man
Sam I am
Sam-a-lama-ding-dong

Butterflies
Last month we went to Elwood Butterfly Reserve. It is a really amazing place that monarch butterflies migrate to each year. The boys had a great time. They both love being out in nature.
After looking at all of the butterflies we met up with Valerie, Micheal, and baby Noah for lunch!

Under God
Several months ago I started teaching Ben the Pledge of Allegiance. He was getting pretty good at it with a few little funny slip-ups. He would say "one dalmatian dog" instead of "One nation, under God."
Well, we stopped practicing and I haven't said anything about it for a few months. Then one day Ben came up to me saying,
At any given time this is what it looks like under our couch.
Today's count
- 13 cars
- 2 people
- 5 marshmallows
- and a lens from a pair of sunglasses

Picnic in the Forest
In our neighborhood we have a little nature trail. We call it the forest. A few weeks ago Ben's friend Talon came for a playdate. We decided to have a picnic in the forest. The boys loved eating on the blanket under the trees and then playing with balls, rocks, sticks, and any other boy thing we could possibly find on the path. I love our little forest!
A Little Visit
Yep we had a little visit from the Fire Department. This was actually back in December. But it is too funny not to blog about.
I was in the middle of painting Christmas trees for our ward party. I had my friend over with her two kids and my two kids. Needless to say the house was a little crazy. As soon as everyone left I finally sat down on the couch for a little break but to my surprise I could smell GAS, and a lot of it. I realized that in all the commotion at the house somehow the gas burner had been bumped and left open spilling gas into the house. We turned it off, opened the windows and got the kids out of the house. We weren't sure how long we needed to stay out of the house so we tried to find the # for the gas company. When we couldn't find that we decided to just call the fire department. They were so great to come and rescue us. By the time they finally got to our house the fumes had pretty much cleared out. I hope we don't have to call them back to the house for a very long time!!!!
