Baby Sign

I have been working on baby sing language for the past few months with Benjamin. He is just now starting to understand and repeat the signs. Today he even did the sign for "more" before I asked him. He is really coming along. I hope it helps us both communicate in the coming months. Some of the signs are real sign language and some of them I made up. Here is a great site to learn more signs.

These are the signs he can do-that doesn't mean he knows what they mean yet. I'm just saying he can repeat them.

  • washy washy~for washing hands
  • All done ~ when he is finished eating (he usually just starts throwing his food on the floor instead. This one is going to take some time to master.)
  • Bonk bonk ~for when he falls down and gets hurt (he usually taps his head repeatedly I don't know why he didn't for the video)
  • more~ when he wants more food or drink
  • eat~ when he is hungry

And here are some we are working on.

  • milk
  • water
  • cookie
  • dog
  • airplane ~ right now he just points in the sky when he hears one instead of doing the sign.

He is a Toddler

Benjamin is officially walking now. This video is about 2 weeks old so he is actually much better than this but I thought it was just too funny not to post.

I'm not sure who is more proud, Mommy or Baby.

Update on the Car

My car accident happened almost 3 weeks ago. It was a big mess but we finally got everything straightened out with the insurance. Thanks again Tom for all of your hard work and long hours on this one.

We are going to be getting almost as much for it as I payed for it. This is truly amazing considering I bought it almost 6 years ago! We were really blessed.

On Friday we bought a "new to us" car. It is still in Vegas so we won't actually have it until next Saturday. But we are so excited!! It is an '08 Ford Escape. I can't wait to have it. I've never had a really nice car before. I'm so excited to take care of it. Isn't that silly.
I'm sure I'll post more pictures of it when we actually get it.

Pete's Pumpkin Patch

I never put up all of the cute pictures we took of Benjamin at the pumpkin patch. I hope you can see them all. He had a great time eating straw and nibbling on pumpkins.
As you may know my parents come to visit us every other month. Each time they come we try to take them some place fun. This month they came with us to the pumpkin patch. We all had a great time, aside from the fact that it was really, REALLY hot. It didn't feel like a fall day at all. As an added bonus our friend Frank, from Germany, happened to be in town visiting. This was his first time seeing Benjamin.

Happy Halloween!

I hope you all had a great Halloween this year. We sure did! I had a great time figuring out our costumes this year. When I was prego a friend gave me Benjamin's bee costume telling me that I would need it some day. Boy was I glad to have it! Benjamin was the bee (which worked out perfect because that is his nick-name) I was the queen bee, and Tom was the bee keeper. Mine was the only homemade costume. Who knows, maybe I will be even more crafty next year. But probably not :0). The day before Halloween Tom and I went to a friend's B-day party. Happy 30th Ditte! It is so fun to have such great friends so close.

On Halloween we took Benjamin to two houses. He is too little to understand what was going on. He refused to hold his basket (he loves it today). We basically just took him so I could get some pictures to blog about the occasion. I hope you enjoy them :0). We had a great time visiting and enjoyed watching all the trick-or-treaters walk around the neighborhood.
I don't know why but I love this holiday so much!

Catch up Time

This is the first of many posts. As you can see I'm a little behind. Life got a little crazy before Halloween. I never said anything, but this summer I was released from Young Womens and I am now the Activities Chair. It is a fun calling but very stressful for me.

Our Halloween party was a big success. Instead of focusing on the scary part of Halloween we tried to focus more on harvest. We called it Harvest Moon. There is a guy in our ward who is a DJ by profession so he had amazing lights set up. There were black lights and stars projected on the ceiling, pillars of fire, and even a fog machine. There was a chili cook-off, mini carnival, and trunk-or-treating. Basically, your traditional Ward Halloween Party. One thing that may make it stand out from the rest (besides the lights) is that I painted a backdrop and we took each family's picture in front of it when they got there.
Although it was stressful it turned out really well in the end. Thanks to everyone that helped out!
More pictures will follow when I get them from our photographer.

Yikes!!!!

Last Tuesday, Benjamin and I were in a car accident. A guy ran a red light and plowed into us. We are both just fine; I got a bump on my head and leg but that was it for me. Benjamin was perfectly fine as far as his doctor could tell. Unfortunately the car is not okay. We will be getting a "new to us" car soon, but we still need to work everything out with the insurance companies. We needed a new car but this is not the time or way we wanted to go about getting it. I'm just glad me and my baby are safe!
On a side note. I woke up that morning from a dead sleep with a dream that I had to show my drivers license to someone. As soon as I was fully awake it dawned on me that my license expired on my birthday last week. I got Benjamin up and going and we went to renew my license. Can you imagine if I hadn't renewed that morning. I'm so glad Heavenly Father is looking out for us in so many ways!!!!!!

Working on a Button

All right I need help!!! I am trying to make a button for my sidebar, but I can't draw. I don't know how I am suppose to get a picture for it. I found these pictures by googling. I don't know what the rules are about using images that I found. I sent a message on the supermom blog so hopefully she will respond. Any thoughts or suggestions? Which one do you like the best?

If you want to learn how to make your own button just go here I used Picasa to make mine. I layered pictures in the collage mode.

Wake Up America!!!

I don't know if you are Republican or Democrat. And to be honest I don't really care. I just thought I would share a poster that my hubby, Tom, made. It is clearly not professionally done, but that's pretty much the point-we're grassroots, not funded by big lobbies and corporations like the left is. I think people are waking up in America and realizing that it wasn't "hope" he was spreading, it was more just a lot of "hype". I would love to see this poster get circulated around the Internet so feel free to send it on, email it, post it on your blogs, facebook, etc.

Thanks for waking up America!!!!

Big Dreams

While I was searching on the Internet for ideas of how to use my new program Sure Cuts A Lot, I came across an amazing giveaway. There are 10 blogs that are connected with this giveaway here they are

Here is a picture of what they are giving away. How amazing is this! It is called "The Workbox" It is made by a company called "The Original Scrapbox" I would love to have something like this someday.
Although it is not a prize I also wanted to let you know about another product that Scapbox offers it is called the minibox. This one is a little more practical for my little house. But make no mistake about it, if I won the mondo Workbox I would find a place to put it. Even if it meant I had to put the couch in storage. (I think Tom would have something to say about that one :0) )

Here is a picture of that one.

Good luck with the contest crafters!!!!

Trip to Utah

Benjamin and I took a fantastic trip to Utah last week. Poor Tom had to stay home and work. :0( We went for my cousin Carl's wedding and got to stay a whole week with my best friend Betheny. We had a blast. Here are a few of the highlights.
Jennie, Carl, and I outside Mt. Timpanogos Temple

The happy couple!

My cousins Holly and Jenny with our babies.
And my Aunts Zoe and Trudy and Uncle Darrel

Between the wedding and the reception I got to visit my friend and old roommate Shallee in the hospital with her new baby Asher. He is such a cute little guy. Benjamin had a lot of fun looking at the baby and getting into anything and everything we would let him.

On Saturday we got together with some of our high school friends that live in UT now. It was so much fun seeing everyone.
For the big party Betheny and I made a cake. Unfortunately we didn't have time to make it as cool as we wanted to. It should have little fish all over the blue. Oh well, you do what you can when you have 4 kids running around. I am hoping to get into cake making; we will see how it goes.
The rest of the time we hung around the house and watched Benjamin torment Betheny's dog Paco. He just couldn't get enough of him.
We tried taking the train into Salt Lake but the cards were stacked against us that day. After missing 2 trains, a cracked windshield, leaving carpool kids at the school, a thunderstorm, and it costing double what we thought it would, we decided we weren't suppose to go for some reason. So we all stood at the station and waved goodbye to our train.
Thanks Beth for a fabulous week. We miss you!

Visit to Nama and Papa's Cabin

Benjamin finally had his first trip to my parents' cabin in Crestline. We went up for Labor Day weekend. We had a great time visiting. Kris and his family came up and so did Randy. I love spending time with family!

Benjamin and Nama reading a book about bears.

Benjamin was enthralled with Papa playing the guitar. He sat and listened for a long time.

Ahoy Matey!

We have a pirate park in Oxnard right by the beach. A few weeks ago my friend Kimberly and I did a play date with our boys. It was really hot but the boys didn't seem to mind too much. They had a great time.
They are only 5 days apart. We met in our Lamaze class.
Benjamin having fun on the swingsChase smiling for his mommy. Isn't he just too cute!!??!!

Kimberly is also my walking buddy. We try to walk 4-5 times a week.
Some weeks are better than others ;0)

9 Month Pictures

I love taking Benjamin to get his picture taken at JC Penney. I always plan on it taking over an hour so I don't get too frustrated. They never turn out exactly like I hope but we did get a few good shots.
